We wrap up the first half round robin with a murky but largely dry evening. Shaw and Egan continue flip-flopping 1st and 2nd with Shaw taking tonight's head to head to retake 1st. Grand total of 1 point (0.002) separates 3rd through 5th. That could get very interesting if it holds until position night.
Park 37 front with 3 birds (two opponent crushing chip-ins)! Murphy also 37 net 32. J Kelly 2 birds. Hulley even par 36 back with eagle-birdie on #12 (4-iron to 8') and #13. Ties net low 34 with Heisler (2 birds). Tough to make low net with a 2 cap. Shaw also 2 birds.
Rules note: if you hit a wrong ball, you are DQ for the hole. However, if the person whose ball it is has not also hit a wrong ball before it's discovered, they can replace the ball and play out the hole normally, even if it's your partner's ball you incorrectly hit.
Rules note 2: we play the marshy area forward of the white tees on #18 as temporary water, not a penalty area. If you hit it in there, take a free drop on the side, even with where you think it is. If by some chance you hit it in again on your next shot, it is still temporary water, take another free drop and hit 3. By the way, if you hit it in there while playing #1 tough luck, that's a penalty.
Historical note: Resident league historian Kevin Egan did some analytics in advance of his match with Shaw tonight (retired people have entirely too much time). He determined that prior to tonight's match, he and Bob had met 56 times since Bob joined in the 1985 season (1979 for Kevin). Young pups. Shaw leads the series 23-21 with 12 ties (plus another Shaw win tonight). Egan averaged 8.76 points and Shaw 9.24.
